Gems Bonanza RTP: why 96.51% and 96.55% both appear, and what the gap is worth

Short answer: Pragmatic Play’s own game page for Gems Bonanza lists an RTP of 96.51%. The demo game information on Pragmatic’s demo server for the same game symbol returns 96.55%. A third-party profile site, pragmaticplay.fun, also shows 96.55%. The gap is 0.04 percentage points. In our calculation, that is about ₱0.40 per ₱1,000 wagered, or ₱8.00 per ₱20,000, over very long samples. It does not change how a single session will go, and no comparison between two games should rest on it alone.

Where each figure comes from

Gems Bonanza is an 8 × 8 cluster-pays slot. The table lists each figure and what its source shows. The provider’s game page is the primary reference. The other two are checked against it, not used to replace it.

Source RTP shown Other values shown How we read it
Pragmatic Play game page 96.51% Game description and the Gold Fever feature text; no hit frequency, buy price or max win on the page we read Primary provider page. The RTP shown here is the reference figure.
Pragmatic Play demo game information (demo symbol vs20goldfever, the same symbol the official page launches) 96.55% Bet line count 20 and default bet 0.10, as returned by the demo server Provider demo server. The demo does not state which mode the figure refers to.
pragmaticplay.fun profile 96.55% Released 29-10-2020; 33.33% hit frequency; Bonus Buy 100x; 12,300x max win; medium volatility Third-party profile site. Its figures are used only where we say so, and are not treated as provider data.

If both figures were accurate for the same mode, they could not both be right. The sources do not say which mode each refers to, so this article reports both and does not choose between them. The demo figure and the profile figure agree with each other; the provider’s game page is the one that differs.

What the gap means in pesos

RTP is a long-run average, and the house edge is 100% minus RTP. The table below uses only those two figures:

Figure Edge Average loss per ₱1,000 wagered Average loss per ₱20,000 wagered
96.51% (game page) 3.49% ₱34.90 ₱698.00
96.55% (demo and profile) 3.45% ₱34.50 ₱690.00
Gap 0.04 points ₱0.40 ₱8.00

Our calculation from the two RTP figures above. Averages over very long samples, not a forecast of any session.

A worked comparison at different bet sizes

The gap grows with the total amount wagered, not with the bet per spin. The next table multiplies the bet by a number of spins. Every figure is our calculation: wagered amount multiplied by the edge. Losses are averages, and a real session can end above or below them.

Bet per spin Spins Total wagered Average loss at 96.51% Average loss at 96.55% Gap
₱5 100 ₱500 ₱17.45 ₱17.25 ₱0.20
₱20 100 ₱2,000 ₱69.80 ₱69.00 ₱0.80
₱100 100 ₱10,000 ₱349.00 ₱345.00 ₱4.00
₱20 1,000 ₱20,000 ₱698.00 ₱690.00 ₱8.00
₱100 1,000 ₱100,000 ₱3,490.00 ₱3,450.00 ₱40.00

Two points follow from the table. First, the gap depends on the total amount wagered, so a ₱20 bet over 1,000 spins and a ₱100 bet over 200 spins give the same gap. Second, the average loss at either figure is far larger than the gap, so the choice of bet size and session length matters much more than the choice between the two RTPs.

Why the gap is not a basis for choosing a game

A 0.04-point difference is below what a single session can show. Hit frequency and win size both vary from one session to the next, and the published figures do not give a distribution of outcomes. Comparing two slots by RTP alone also ignores whether each game’s figure was measured for the same mode, bet and date. A game with a higher published RTP is not guaranteed to return more to any particular player.

Bonus Buy and the maximum win, at one bet size

The 100x Bonus Buy and the 12,300x maximum win appear only on the third-party profile page. The provider’s game page we read does not list them, so treat both as unverified until they appear on Pragmatic’s own page. Using the profile values, at a ₱20 bet per spin:

  • Bonus Buy price: 100 × ₱20 = ₱2,000 per buy.
  • Average loss per buy if the buy returned the same 96.55% as the base game (an assumption; no buy RTP is published on the sources we checked): 3.45% × ₱2,000 = ₱69.00. At 96.51% the figure is ₱69.80.
  • Maximum-win ceiling: 12,300 × ₱20 = ₱246,000. That is the most one bet could pay under the stated cap. The sources give no odds of reaching it.

Hit frequency: how often a win happens

The profile page’s 33.33% hit frequency means one spin in three pays something on average. It is not on the provider page we read, so it is shown only as the profile’s figure. If spins were independent, the chance of at least one winning spin would be 1 − (1 − 0.3333)n: about 98.3% in 10 spins and about 99.97% in 20. A near-certain win in 10 spins says nothing about whether those wins return more than the stake.

The Gold Fever feature, as the provider describes it

The provider’s page describes Lucky Wilds that land in random positions, and says that triggering the Gold Fever feature activates all spin modifiers. It adds that reaching the last level gives a 10x win multiplier. We have not measured how often that level is reached. The page gives no frequency, so no feature odds are calculated here.

Checklist before comparing RTP figures

  • Same mode. Base game and Bonus Buy have different economics. Check which one a figure describes.
  • Same source type. A provider page, a demo server and a profile site are different kinds of evidence. Rank them before comparing.
  • Same date. A figure copied from an older page may not match the current one. Record when each source was checked.
  • Same bet. Convert every figure to pesos per the same total wagered, as in the tables above.

What this article did not check

  • No play data. We did not run a session of our own, and the tables are calculated from published figures only.
  • Which mode the demo figure refers to. The demo server returns 96.55% without naming a mode. We could not confirm that it matches the game page’s base-game figure.
  • Copied figures. Other sites that repeat one of these numbers do not add independent evidence.
